Way Truth Life - Week Three

The more time you spend with someone the more you get to know their habits, rhythms and routines. As we journey with Jesus through the gospels, we see He loved to get alone and pray. Jesus didn’t seek after crowds. He purposed to get away and spend time with His Father. Jesus didn’t tweet his prayers. He didn’t pray out in the open so all could see how spiritual he was. He prayed privately, with confidence that God heard His prayers. This week we will be focusing our attention on Jesus and prayer.

This journal is your road map for the journey. You will be a witness to the miracles and healings of Jesus. You will learn from His teachings. You will be humbled at the cross and confounded at the empty tomb.  Even more you will discover this Jesus who lived, died and was buried, rose and is alive today. This journey is not just a trip down memory lane. This is an adventure where you will experience the wonder of his presence daily. We will see miracles and healings in our neighborhoods and in our day.

I encourage you to enjoy the adventure. Take time to interact with Jesus. Take time to listen. Take time to play if you want. Remember, “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever,” and, “His mercies are new every morning.” This means, the same creative God is at work to do something new and fresh in your life.

Peter’s Confession of Christ

Read: Luke 9:18-20

Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

Luke 9:18-20

Today’s Journey:

Jesus often pulled away from the crowds to enjoy time with His Father in prayer. At times He would take the disciples along. On this particular day when Jesus was alone with His disciples praying, He asked them two questions. First, He asked: "Who do the crowds say I am? And then he asked: "Who do you say I am?"

What would you say today if Jesus asked, "Who do the crowds say I am?" What are people saying about Jesus these days? What people say about Jesus and what they say about Christians are probably quite different. You might even take some time today and ask some people who they say Jesus is.

You will know who Jesus is when you spend time alone with Him. Take some time today and ask yourself, "Who is Jesus to me?"

Answer that question by writing a poem, or a song, or just some thoughts. You can even express that in a drawing or a painting or a picture that you take.
