Jesus Heals The Demoniac

36 Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. 37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.

Today’s Journey

Can you imagine living in a cemetery? The man in this story lived amongst the tombs. He was possessed by demons and was so strong that no one could subdue him. And so he lived amongst the tombs. But Jesus delivered this man from the legion of demons that tormented this man. The authority of Jesus over the demons is displayed for all to see. And the man who once ran around naked tormenting the town, now was fully clothed and in his right mind.

The town’s people asked Jesus to leave their region after He delivered this man. Why would they rather have a demoniac tormenting the town than have Jesus be amongst them? Are there places you do not want Jesus to go, even though He promises to bring healing and deliverance? Are there evils that you learn to live with rather than submitting to the Lordship of Jesus? This story brings up a lot of questions. Write your questions down. Do not try to answer them, just take some time and consider the questions.
